Xos Forges Key Partnership with Winnebago

Yesterday, Xos announced a new partnership with iconic American motorhome and RV manufacturer — Winnebago. You can read the press release here. Xos is developing a fully electric chassis for Winnebago’s Specialty Vehicles division, which for over 55 years has built and delivered highly customized vehicles for both commercial and private applications.

Xos will provide its proven SV stepvan platform technology to Winnebago. The Xos-designed and Xos-manufactured battery-electric chassis will be incorporated into Winnebago’s commercial 33 and 38-foot vehicle shells, supporting configurations for multiple commercial use cases (including mobile medical and dental clinics, and mobile command centers).

Xos’ partnership with Winnebago fundamentally speaks to our belief that a business combination between Xos and ElectraMeccanica creates a long-term growth opportunity for shareholders.

First, Xos is a company that has a great product and is selling to customers you know. Winnebago is a household name, an iconic American manufacturer, and has been building high-quality vehicles for decades. They now join the ranks of well-known fleet operators who will benefit from Xos’ proven commercial electric vehicles, and also from Xos’ service, support, and continuous software design improvement.

Second, Xos’ future success is supported by regulatory tailwinds. As noted in the press release, Winnebago is “constantly monitoring evolving customer needs and technology solutions, and [Winnebago’s] partnership with Xos represents a significant milestone in [its] journey into the future of electric specialty vehicles.” Commercial and public fleet operators across the country are exploring fleet electrification. Eleven states have already taken firm action to implement EV mandates. We expect such strong regulatory support to bolster commercial EV demand for years to come. Winnebago’s partnership with Xos reflects a desire to be strategically positioned to meet this demand.

Lastly, Xos is outperforming its peer group today. Xos has demonstrated an ability to deliver substantial growth in vehicle deliveries and revenues. Xos has built a business with attractive unit economics that we believe will improve as the company scales to meet demand and fill its order backlog. Additional wins with new customers reinforce our conviction that Xos is positioned to achieve the revenues we have forecast and that Xos’ business, combined with ElectraMeccanica’s capital, provides a clear path to long-term, durable growth.
